Here are some tips for your dog.
Tip no. 1 : Know how to educate your dog right from the beginning
In spite of all the love that we are able to give our dog, you must not neglect the fact that the education starts right from when he’s a puppy. A good education will make your dog a happy and well-balanced animal. For the guardian, the main trap to avoid is to not think of your dog as a child or a toy. You must, right from the beginning, instil into him “good manners”.
Tip no. 2 : Give him healthy food
In order to allow your dog to live for the longest time possible, it is necessary to give him a nutrition offering him all the nutriments that he needs. For the puppies, it is important to give them routine food, in order to not upset their stomach and to allow them to find their brand.
Tip no. 3 : Follow your dog’s ageing
According to their breed and size, dogs do not have the same life expectancy. It is the owner’s responsibility to know his animal’s ageing profile and to identify the key years during which it is necessary to regularly examine his dog.
Tip no. 4 : Look after your dog’s teeth
During his life, your dog may have some dental difficulties, such as infections or tartar. As well as giving him quality food, it is also recommended to brush his teeth and to offer him treats especially made to improve his dental hygiene.
Tip no. 5 : See to the upkeep of his fur and his skin
Do not hesitate to brush regularly your dog for two main reasons : first of all, for aesthetic reasons, this will allow him to have a shiny coat. Moreover, apply a treatment on the fur to fight off parasites.
Tip no. 6 : Regular physical activities
In order to avoid that he gains too much weight and that he keeps all his vitality, make your dog do a regular physical activity. It can be a walk, games or any other activity where he will be able to use up his energy and therefore, improve his physical and mental state.
Tip no. 7 : Understand and know your dog
Your dog has its own personality and specific character. It is essential, in order to keep a strong bond and to anticipate any possible problem, to understand and know how to translate his barking, his reactions and his gestures.
Tip no. 8 : Know the particularities of your dog’s breed
A dog, according to his breed, has its own particularities. Certain breeds distinguish themselves by vulnerabilities which are useful to know (for example, cardiac frailty). By having a profound knowledge of the “technical” data relative to your dog’s breed, you will then be able to ensure a better follow-up, particularly regarding his health.
Tip no. 9 : Identify your dog
Formerly, the most common used way of identifying your dog was tattooing. Today, there are new and more effective ways of identification, such as microchipping. This method is essential especially in case of loss, in order to be able to find the actual owner.
Tip no. 10 : Be aware of your dog’s ageing
Just like humans, your dog ages all along his lifetime. Along the years, his temperament will evolve and transform itself as he ages. In spite of his loss of vitality, his loss of appetite and his longer sleeping time, don’t forget to give him some attention and to keep a close watch over him.
